The appearances of voice in Lacanian theory before its elevation to object a. The central point of this research is the object voice in psychoanalysis, more specifically in Lacan's seminars, where it acquired a relevant place among the pulsional objects after the psychoanalyst had stated that voice is the closest thing to the unconscious experience. Due to the absence of literature on how the voice was elevated to object a and the fact that current commentators propose theoretical advances about this object after it was already adjectivated as object a, we followed a previous path and returned to the texts of seminars prior to Seminar 10. In this research we extracted the passages in which Lacan mentioned the voice during his first seminars before characterizing it as object a. Starting from the hypothesis that such appearances would already be a foreshadowing of the position it would take, we established a dialogical relation with the text, trying to raise what was discussed about the theme from Seminar 1 to Seminar 8. We demonstrate that the voice has always permeated the psychoanalyst's seminars, at first in its sound materiality, but soon after detaching itself only from what can be heard to take it beyond sound, that is, approaching its characteristic of object a
