Resumo: The objective of this work is to explore the several aspects of the abortion of anencephalic fetuses, showing the reasons that make this subject so discussed during history. At first, different concepts will be presented to establish the beginning of life. Following, there will be an analysis of the concept of death and the means used to its declaration. The contextualization of the general abortion will include its history, types and legal aspects. After that, a short history on the abortion of anencephalic fetuses will be presented, along with medical characterization of anencephaly. It will be discussed the anencephaly that conflict regarding abortion, the influence and opinion of religion and the recent Supremo Tribunal Federal decision

Serão abordadas primeiramente as temáticas envolvendo a vida, conceituando-a e determinando seu início. Após, inicia-se a analise do conceito morte e dos meios para sua determinação. Superado tais temais iniciais, será analisado o aborto comum, expondo seu histórico, tipos, sua criminalização e exceções previstas em lei.
