The interest in the study of the influence of the culture on the development of human subjectivity has been an important feature in the knowledgement of the human being, also considered so by Freud in his sociological studies. Presently, however, due to the globalization, new technologies and hypercapitalism, new aspects have been regarded as important to understand behavior patterns and pathologies, thus requiring new parameters of understanding the subject, not only local but global, and that greatly affects the development of the subjectivity. It is by the means of the culture that one is integrated and recognized as such in a given social environment since he assimilates of the meanings and senses presented to him. Accordingly, the Ideal Ego is related to secondary narcissism, so prominent in the consumption society. The individual responsibilities are emphasized, thus leading one to blame oneself in situations of failure. In order to survive in such a short-sighted society, people are bound to seek the immediate pleasure, therefore becoming unable to perceive a greater meaning of the existence as well as to recognize the own essence. Hence, the depression may be considered a contemporary neurosis since it is the most spread out disorder in post-modernity and may be regarded as one’s resistance against an oppressing market economy. The psychoanalytic clinic may cooperate to a greater understanding of the subject in the present since it represents a necessary opportunity for one to symbolize, by means of the speech, the own pain and to elaborate the guilt
