Baroque was an artistic style that built cities. For a long time, thehistoriography produced in Brazil did not look more closely at the history of baroque dramain Sao Paulo city. This has always been seen as a city built with government money.coffee, modern city and locomotive in Brazil. Baroque is an artistic style linked in mostsometimes the cities of Minas Gerais, the city of Rio de Janeiro and the cities on the coastsugar industry in Northeast Brazil. This research found that the city of São Paulo was asdramatic and baroque like the examples cited here. I made a brief overview from thenew historiography about baroque cities and sought to analyze the striking presence of the baroqueas “building style” of the city of São Paulo, in this sense, the political and religious powersworked together and built colonial São Paulo on the Portuguese model, making it aBaroque city like so many others in the Portuguese Empire. The methodology sought support from the vastspecialized bibliography to support the interpretation and understanding of a baroque city.
