Resumo: This study aimed to identify and characterize ethnographically the homosexual apps in terms of the appearances constructed by its users and the opportunities for social engagement available to seniors. An ethnographic method was used. The apps, investigated in 2014, were: Grindr, Scruff, Bender, Growlr, and Recon. It was concluded that appearance is a determinant of social isolation or engagement, also a marker of heterogeneity, and organizer of social relations plurality among the group investigated

Fueron analizadas, en el año de 2014, las siguientes aplicaciones: Grindr, Scruff, Bender, Growlr y Recon. Se considera en eses medios que la apariencia es un determinante del envolvimiento o aislamiento social en la vejez homosexual, además de un marcador de la heterogeneidad y organizador de la pluralidad de relaciones sociales existentes en el grupo investigado.A presente pesquisa buscou identificar e caracterizar etnograficamente aplicativos de relacionamento homossexual em termos da construção da aparência e oportunidades de engajamento social para homens idosos. Foram analisados no ano de 2014 os aplicativos: Grindr, Scruff, Bender, Growlr e Recon.
