Summary: This work aims to study publications that address the understanding of aspects that concern the Anticipatory Mourning of the elderly about themselves. It also aims to identify, in these studies, whether there is reference to anticipatory mourning as a preparatory resource (protection factor) or an aggravating factor (risk factor) in the elderly's experience. The research was based on papers published in electronic databases of the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and PubMed, and covered all the works until 2016. The articles analyzed presented discussions about the mourning that permeates the successive losses of aging and the need to recognize and welcome the elderly in this process. The subjects discussed in the papers studied were: the suffering of people who ages and cries for themselves, the feeling of death and aging for the elderly, and also the mourning caused by the loss of the exiled friend.Keywords: Psychology; Anticipatory mourning; Elderly; Systematic review of literature.

Pretende, también, identificar, en esos estudios, si se hace referencia al duelo anticipado como un recurso preparatorio (factor de protección) o un agravante (factor de riesgo) en la vida de los ancianos. La investigación fue realizada por medio de búsquedas de trabajos publicados en bases indexadoras electrónicas de la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS) y PubMed, abarcando todos los trabajos hasta 2016. Los artículos analizados presentaron discusiones sobre el duelo que involucra las pérdidas sucesivas del envejecimiento y la necesidad de reconocimiento y acogida del anciano en este proceso. El sufrimiento de aquel que envejece y se enluta por sí mismo, abarcando el sentido de la muerte y del envejecimiento para el anciano y, aún, los duelos debidos a la pérdida de un amigo que estaba en el asilo fueron temas discutidos en dichos estudios.Palabras clave: Psicología; Duelo anticipado; Anciano; Revisión sistemática.Este estudo tem como objetivo mapear as publicações que abordem a compreensão acerca de aspectos relacionados ao luto antecipatório do idoso a respeito de si mesmo. Objetiva também identificar, nesses estudos, se há referência ao luto antecipatório como um recurso preparatório (fator de proteção) ou um agravante (fator de risco) na vivência dos idosos. A pesquisa foi realizada por meio de buscas de trabalhos publicados em bases indexadoras eletrônicas da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e PubMed, abrangendo todos os trabalhos até 2016. Os artigos analisados apresentaram discussões sobre o luto que permeia as perdas sucessivas do envelhecimento e a necessidade de reconhecimento e acolhimento do idoso neste processo. O sofrimento daquele que envelhece e enluta-se por si mesmo, abrangendo o sentido da morte e do envelhecimento para o idoso, e, ainda, os lutos decorrentes da perda do amigo asilado foram temas discutidos nos referidos estudos.
