Resumo: | This article aims to describe the contribution of educational practices and nursing care, based on the Theory of Health Promotion Nola Pender to healthy habits of life of older people with cardiovascular disease. Search participant type, performed with twelve elderly Health Unit District Family Dom Expedito, in Sobral, Ceará. It was evident that some of the elderly did not have healthy habits of life, so higher risk for cardiovascular disease, are all people living with hypertension and some with diabetes mellitus. This research subsidizes academics and health professionals to awaken the desire to research and carry out care aimed at health promotion with the elderly, and also the need to use theories, it is still incipient references involving the theory of health promotion. |

Este artigo objetiva descrever a contribuição de práticas educativas e cuidados de enfermagem, com base na Teoria da Promoção da Saúde, de Nola Pender, quanto a hábitos saudáveis de vida por pessoas idosas com doenças cardiovasculares. Pesquisa do tipo participante, realizada com doze idosos da Unidade de Saúde da Família do Bairro Dom Expedito, em Sobral, Ceará. Evidenciou-se que alguns dos idosos não possuem hábitos saudáveis de vida; apresentam, pois, maior risco para as doenças cardiovasculares; todos são pessoas vivendo com hipertensão arterial sistêmica e alguns, com diabetes mellitus. Esta pesquisa pode subsidiar a outros acadêmicos e profissionais da área da saúde, a fim de despertar-lhes o desejo de pesquisar e realizar cuidados voltados à promoção da saúde com a pessoa idosa, e também a necessidade de utilização de teorias adequadas a esta especialidade, dada a insuficiência de referências envolvendo a Teoria da Promoção da Saúde.
