Effectiveness of vestibular rehabilitation in elderly subjects with dizziness

Resumo: This study aimed to verify the effectiveness of the vestibular rehabilitation (VR) exercises in elderly with dizziness. Method: evaluations of the balance were performed before and after vestibular rehabilitation. Results: 36 elderly were evaluated. By comparing pre and post rehabilitation scores, we observed significant improvement post rehabilitation. Conclusion: the vestibular rehabilitation is an effective therapeutic procedure in the elderly who have been suffering from dizziness. Keywords:  Aged; Dizziness; Postural balance.

Método: se realizaron evaluaciones del balance antes y después de la rehabilitación vestibular. Resultados: Se evaluaron 36 ancianos. Al comparar las puntuaciones pre y post rehabilitación, se observó una mejoría significativa después de la rehabilitación. Conclusión: la rehabilitación vestibular es un procedimiento terapéutico eficaz en los ancianos que han sufrido mareos.Palabras clave: Envejecido; Mareo; Equilibrio Postural.Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar a efetividade dos exercícios de reabilitação vestibular (RV) em idosos com queixa de tontura. Como método: foram realizadas avaliações do equilíbrio antes e depois da realização da reabilitação vestibular. Foram avaliados 36 idosos. Comparando os escores pré- e pós-RV, observamos melhora significante pós-reabilitação.
