Resumo: This study aims to know the experience of being an elderly person dependent-care by others. Known aspects related to the experience of dependents elderly, enables health professionals who provide care to this population, reflect about on a more humane form action, where are valued not only the biological aspects, but also, all the psychosocial issues that are linked to the process of illness in old age.

Este estudo tem como objetivo conhecer a vivência de ser um idoso que depende do cuidado de outras pessoas. Conhecer os aspectos relacionados à vivência de idosos dependentes permite aos profissionais da saúde que prestam atendimento a essa população, refletir sobre uma forma de atuação mais humanizada, em que se valorizem não apenas os aspectos biológicos, mas também todas as questões psicossociais que estão atreladas ao processo de adoecer durante a velhice.
