Resumo: Each person ages differently, which is why society has to offer devices that respond to the multiple demands of this group. This article presents the results of a study whose objectives were: first, to explore and compare the reasons that lead older people to enter long-stay residences, day clubs or educational workshops; second, to investigate the weaknesses and strengths of these facilities from the perspective of older people. To this end, an exploratory, descriptive study was carried out with the participation of people of both sexes between 75 and 90 years of age who lived in or attended the mentioned facilities. From a qualitative approach, three group interviews were carried out, one in each facility. The stories that emerged from each interview made it possible to understand the importance of the existence of these facilities in the lives of the elderly and the support they provide to them and their families.

El presente artículo expone los resultados de un estudio que tenía como objetivos: en primer lugar, explorar y comparar los motivos que conducen a las personas mayores a ingresar a residencias de larga estadía, club de día o talleres educativos; en segundo lugar, indagar las debilidades y fortalezas de estos dispositivos desde la perspectiva de las personas mayores. Para tal fin se implementó un estudio exploratorio, descriptivo en el participaron personas de ambos sexos con edades entre 75 y 90 años que vivían o concurrían a los dispositivos mencionados. Desde un enfoque cualitativo, se implementaron tres entrevistas grupales, una en cada dispositivo. Los relatos emergentes de cada entrevista posibilitan comprender la importancia de la existencia de estos dispositivos en la vida de las personas mayores y los apoyos que les proporcionan a ellos y a sus familias.Cada pessoa envelhece de maneira diferente, por isso a sociedade tem que oferecer dispositivos que respondam às múltiplas demandas desse grupo. Este artigo apresenta os resultados de um estudo cujos objetivos foram: em primeiro lugar, explorar e comparar as razões que levam os idosos a ingressarem em residências de longa permanência, day clubs ou oficinas educativas; em segundo lugar, investigar os pontos fracos e fortes desses dispositivos na perspectiva dos idosos. Para o efeito, foi realizado um estudo exploratório, descritivo, no qual participaram pessoas de ambos os sexos com idades compreendidas entre os 75 e os 90 anos que residiam ou frequentavam os referidos dispositivos. A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa, foram realizadas três entrevistas em grupo, uma em cada dispositivo.
