Urban agriculture, social innovation, and governance: a study in Florianópolis

Resumo: The present article aims to understand the social innovation processes produced by urban agriculture practices in the city of Florianópolis. We present the results of a qualitative intrinsic case study, conducted from a pragmatistic perspective and based on the analytical-methodological framework of the ethnography of public arenas. From a cartography of the field of practices of urban agriculture in the city, we identified three major social innovation dynamics situated in three different public arenas: organic solid waste, human right to adequate food, and production and consumption cycles. The results subsidize the understanding of the complexity of social innovation processes and their implications for the governance of the city.

Apresentamos os resultados de um estudo de caso qualitativo intrínseco, realizado tendo como referência uma perspectiva pragmatista e o quadro analítico-metodológico da etnografia de arenas públicas. A partir de uma cartografia do campo de práticas de agricultura urbana na cidade, identificamos três grandes dinâmicas de inovação social situadas em três diferentes arenas públicas: a dos resíduos sólidos orgânicos, a do direito humano à alimentação adequada e a dos ciclos de produção e consumo.
