Resumo: This paper proposes a dialogue between the theories regarding the hybrid and multifaceted essay genre, which prompts much discussion and attempts to systematize it, and Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of culture prosification, which helps us understand the significant changes of the essay genre occurring during the twentieth century.
