Resumo: This article seeks to approach Brazilian modernism from its possible connections with fashion. From the alleged inspiration of the brazilian Modern Art Week in a French fashion week to the new look that Flávio de Carvalho developed for a performance in the 1950s, the article also goes through the works of Oswald de Andrade, Mário de Andrade and Tarsila do Amaral. In this way, it interprets a set of literary texts, paintings, controversies and even a certain number of performances that were exhibited and published throughout the modernist period guided by fashion in its two main aspects: time and clothing. The article also  concludes, through an etymological suggestion, that for the modernists the very idea of discovery, as an act of knowledge, would be associated with the nudity condition.
