Resumo: This study aims to analyze the self-selection of return migration in Brazil from 2000 to 2010. The analysis is based on the methodology used by Borjas and Bratsberg (1996) and explores a set of micro data from the 2010 Census. Estimating relative wages and analyzing the impact of migration costs for the Brazilian case, it was found that the flow of return migration is positively selected, ie, composed, in general, for individuals who have skills above the national average. We present evidence that immigrants return have on average higher wages than individuals that did not migrate. Regarding the selection of the initial sample migration refutes up negative self-selection hypothesis Borjas, where the less skilled are more likely to migrate to countries with high returns to skills for countries with low returns to skills. These findings have important implications for studies on the impact of immigrants on the return of the Brazilian labor market.

A análise é baseada na metodologia utilizada por Borjas e Bratsberg (1996) e explora um conjunto de microdados do Censo de 2010. Estimando salários relativos e analisando o impacto dos custos de migração para o caso brasileiro, descobriu-se que o fluxo migratório de retorno é positivamente selecionado, ou seja, composto, em geral, por indivíduos que possuem habilidades acima da média brasileira. Apresentam-se evidências que os imigrantes de retorno têm, em média, salários maiores que do que os indivíduos nãomigrantes. Quanto à seleção da amostra inicial de migração refuta-se hipótese de autosseleção negativa de Borjas, em que os menos hábeis são mais propensos a migrar de países com altos retornos para habilidades para países com baixos retornos para habilidades.
