Resumo: Human Development through empowerment, participation and capability expansion has been in the center of United Nations and governments around the world. Also, civil society found different ways to help in human development with entrepreneur people who hope to do something to society. Social enterprises arose through self sustainable business models to create social value while helping individual capability expansion, according to the economist and philosopher Amartya Sen. Information and communication technology has been at the core of social enterprises business models, with a important hole at human development. This work confirms the contribution in creating social value of information and communication technology based social enterprises, using Amartya Sen´s capability approach, with a qualitative approach research at Saútil and Kiduca, social enterprises based in ICT.

A sociedade civil também achou formas de ajudar no desenvolvimento humano com pessoas empreendedoras que esperam fazer algo pela sociedade em geral. Uma das formas que surgiu neste sentido são as empresas sociais, que através de modelos de negócios auto sustentáveis criam valor para a sociedade, efetivando diversas maneiras de expansão das capacitações individuais, uma das formas da visão de desenvolvimento humano conforme o filósofo e economista Amartya Sen. A tecnologia da informação e comunicação tem sido uma das bases de modelos de negócios de empresas sociais, com um papel importante no desenvolvimento humano. Este trabalho comprovou a contribuição na geração de valor social das empresas sociais baseadas em tecnologia da informação e comunicação através de uma análise sob a lente do enfoque das capacitações de Amartya Sen, utilizando-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa em duas empresas sociais, a Saútil e a Kiduca.
