Resumo: Apical surgery is a procedure involving surgical exposure of the committed apex, amputation of the same, root-end cavity preparation and retrofilling of the root canal. The success of this surgery is associated with the proper performance of the various steps of all surgical procedures. This study aimed to compare results of apical surgery in vitro, using different restorative materials and two different storage modes of human teeth. The sample consisted of 60 single root human teeth witch were divided into two groups according to the storage mode (hydrated and not hydrated), each group was subdivided according to the retrofilling material (mineral trioxide aggregate and glass ionomer cement modified by resin). Each specimen was evaluated by digital radiographic images and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was concluded that mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA ®) obtained the best results for the apical seal in both mores of storage and that the glass ionomer cement modified by resin (Vitremer ®) showed significantly increased gap values when the teeth were hydrated.

O sucesso desta cirurgia está vinculado à realização adequada das diversas etapas desse procedimento cirúrgico. Esta pesquisa objetivou comparar resultados de cirurgia paraendodôntica, in vitro, utilizando diferentes materiais restauradores e modos de armazenamento de dentes humanos. A amostra foi constituída por 60 dentes humanos monorradiculares divididos em dois grupos segundo o modo de armazenamento (hidratados e não hidratados), sendo que cada grupo foi subdividido de acordo com o material utilizado para retrobturação (o agregado trióxido mineral e o cimento de ionômero de vidro modificado por resina). Cada espécime foi avaliado por imagens radiográficas digitais e Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV). Concluiu-se que o agregado trióxido mineral (MTA®) obteve os melhores resultados para o selamento apical em ambas as formas de armazenamento dentário e que o cimento de ionômero de vidro modificado por resina (Vitremer®) apresentou valores médios de gap consideravelmente aumentados quando utilizados dentes hidratados.Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-14T13:30:03Z (GMT).
