Resumo: | The present work intends to analyze the presence of characteristics of mythical narratives, especially those linked to Artemis, in the work A Rainha do Ignoto (2019) by Emília Freitas, first published at the end of the 19th century in 1899. The main goal, thus, is the investigation of the mythical update in the work and the possible symbolic construction between the protagonist of the novel, initially known as Funesta, and the figure of the Greco-Roman goddess. The research also lists information about the mythological structure and the approach to the area of literature, as well as the writing developed by women in a limiting context and the capacity of the feminist essence present in the text to drive political and social changes. The research was carried out through an extensive bibliographic review that brings together authors such as Bolen (2004), Jung (2002), Durand (2011, 2012, 1985, 1982), Eliade (2002, 1992), Schmidt (2012), Cavalcante (2008), among other scholars. It is concluded that the study reached the assumptions it intended, as it validates the mythical update in the work of Emília Freitas (2019), also showing its importance for the literary canon and for the period in which she wrote, since both the author as for the character created by her, with a view to the symbolic image of Artemis, go beyond standards established by a sexist and restrictive society by positioning themselves as a feminist discourse. It can be reflected, through several symbolic clues written by Freitas (2019), that the approximation with the mythical imaginary was intentional since they help in the foundation of specific criticisms about the nineteenth-century Brazilian reality |

It can be reflected, through several symbolic clues written by Freitas (2019), that the approximation with the mythical imaginary was intentional since they help in the foundation of specific criticisms about the nineteenth-century Brazilian realityO presente trabalho pretende analisar a presença de características de narrativas míticas, em especial aquelas ligadas à Ártemis, na obra A Rainha do Ignoto (2019) da cearense Emília Freitas, publicado pela primeira ao final do século XIX, em 1899.
