Resumo: Father? Where are you? Father? Who are you? Amongst power and desire relations, daughters and sons search for the father. Based on the epistolary form and using as reference Letter to his father (1919) by Franz Kafka, I wrote a series of four letters to think about the father and the fatherhood. And about my own father. These letters are written from my perspective as a daughter-author-researcher in dialogue with other daughters and other sons. For a genealogy of fatherhood elaborated by the children. Besides Kafka, there is a dialogue with Sibylle Lacan, Jacques Lacan’s daughter. From Foucault’s analytics of power comes the foundation for the first part of the letters, that is focused on the power relations - in the binomial presences-absences. Therefore I appeal to a research about the history of western fatherhood and the social and cultural history of family in Brazil, in order to delimitate where the father is (not) and what is his social function within the family. For the second part, I ask myself who is the father?, among desire relations, and for that I call on the psychoanalytical theories of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. The investigation on the father, since Oedipus complex, the father Urvater, from Totem and Taboo (1913), and the guide-father from Moses and monotheism (1939), passes through all of Freud’s body of work, once the original parricide presents itself as fundamental in the constitution of subjectivity. The return to freudian psychoanalysis made by Jacques Lacan transcends the Oedipus complex, rewrites the theory and reaches a pluralization of Names-of-the-father. In the third part are the theoretic-critic analysis of six contemporary brazilian novels. The dialogue among the autodiegetic son(s) narrator(s) in Lavoura Arcaica (1975), by Raduan Nassar, Reunião de Família (1982), by Lya Luft, and Ribamar (2010), by José Castello, happens as in Kafka’s sons: through power relations. The dialogue among the daughters, the autodiegetic narrators in Mar Azul (2012), by Paloma Vidal and Enquanto Deus não está olhando (2014), by Débora Ferraz, happens as for Sibylle Lacan: through desire relations. In the space between power and desire relations, between presences and absences, are other affective subjectivities for other fathers and other families, as seen in the novel Azul-corvo (2010), by Adriana Lisboa. The last letter is a letter to my father. In this space of between are also the Notes to [my] father and the gathering of my lost letters. Father? Receive my letters. The letters are for you, father. From your daughter.

The last letter is a letter to my father. In this space of between are also the Notes to [my] father and the gathering of my lost letters. Father? Receive my letters. The letters are for you, father. From your daughter. Pai? Receba as minhas cartas. As cartas são para você, pai. Da sua filha.Submitted by PPG Letras (letraspg@pucrs.br) on 2019-05-24T20:22:08Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese - Natasha Centenaro.pdf: 6782525 bytes, checksum: fa00aeda53319a1c21398d293309d404 (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Caroline Xavier (caroline.xavier@pucrs.br) on 2019-06-13T19:02:43Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese - Natasha Centenaro.pdf: 6782525 bytes, checksum: fa00aeda53319a1c21398d293309d404 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-06-13T19:10:35Z (GMT).
