This doctoral study analyzes aspects of the city, the port and the entrepreneurship of Itajaí from 1970 until today in search of a common dialogue between the sectors that converge urbanity, the port structure and the new crafts that were created through the economic activities, ruled in the trajectory of the company G. Miranda Ltda. In this sense, it analyzes the changes in the city promoted by increasing migrations and affirms that the changes were generated from the commercial demands. On the other hand, the role of the elites in the works that founded the port, the main economic cycles that propelled Itajaí in the first half of the 20th century, is analyzed, enabling Itajaí to be the great gateway for products and services in the 1970s. people. The research aims to verify the influence of entrepreneurship, personified in some names to elaborate the rise of a trade and its increasing decline in the advent of technological innovations. For this purpose, the oral testimony collected in the city of Itajaí was used as the source for this investigation, and the characters were chosen for the pertinence of the research, the yearbooks of the city of Itajaí that are rich in information about society, economy and culture and the company file G. Miranda Ltda.
