Neoliberalismo e o novo fotojornalismo no Brasil dos anos 1990

Resumo: | The main question when constructing this Thesis is to understand that the photography of Carlos Carvalho and Sebastião Salgado contributed to social denunciations with a look full of the past, in addition to realizing their similarities in trajectories and records with other photographers who worked in Brazil in the 1980s and 1990s. Their actions dialogue with a network of other professionals who also saw inequalities with the same magnifying glass: in black-and-white photography, in a way close to their subjects, in the exchange of constant glances and a photography that seeks to enter the subjective field of those who watch it, to reach artistic legitimization and authorities that can make practical changes in the lives of people in vulnerable situations recorded by photographers. Such authorities, however, are among the main promoters of the violence recorded and documented by these photographers, closing a loop of social denunciation and the conjuration of innocence by neoliberal institutions, by directly or indirectly supporting these photographic works and by exempting themselves from the responsibility of problems that neoliberalism generated in post-1990 Brazil. Thus, closing a cycle of perpetuation of problems in our neoliberal society, with the continuity of contemporary slavery, devastation of the environment, promotion of social inequalities, among other problems. Understanding the functioning of this movement between photographic activity in Brazil in the 1990s in contact with this neoliberal system is the central problem of this work |

Understanding the functioning of this movement between photographic activity in Brazil in the 1990s in contact with this neoliberal system is the central problem of this workA questão principal no momento da construção desta tese é compreender que a fotografia de Carlos Carvalho e Sebastião Salgado contribuíram para denúncias sociais com um olhar carregado de passado, além de perceber suas semelhanças de trajetórias e registros com outros(as) fotógrafos(as) que atuaram no Brasil nos anos 1980 e 1990. Suas atuações dialogam com uma rede de outros profissionais que também enxergaram desigualdades com a mesma lupa: na fotografia preto-e-branco, de maneira próxima dos seus sujeitos, na troca de olhares constantes e de uma fotografia que busca adentrar o campo subjetivo de quem a enxerga, para chegar à legitimação artística e de autoridades que possam fazer a mudança prática na vida das pessoas em situação de vulnerabilidade registrada pelos fotógrafos. Tais autoridades, entretanto, fazem parte dos principais promotores da própria violência registrada e documentada por estes fotógrafos, fechando um looping da denúncia social e da conjuração da inocência de instituições neoliberais, ao apoiarem direta ou indiretamente estes trabalhos fotográficos e ao se isentarem da responsabilidade dos problemas que o neoliberalismo gerou no Brasil pós-1990. Fechando assim, um ciclo de perpetuação de problemas da nossa sociedade neoliberal, com a continuidade da escravidão contemporânea, devastação do meio ambiente, promoção das desigualdades sociais, dentre outros problemas.
