The State Secretariat for Women's Policies released in 2013 that violence against gauche women, followed by death, has the offender's as the main partners or expartners, and, in most cases, violent actions take place during the day in residence. The difficulties of women to break with violence run into important factors related to the complicated route for support. The path taken by women in situations of violence can be stimulated and made possible, depending on the relationships established with public institutions, families and people in their coexistence. On the contrary, can characterize their stay in violent situations. Thus, this research is justified, whose overall objective is to identify the social experiences of women in situations of violence and their coping strategies in the network specialized protection in the city of Porto Alegre / RS, Reference Center for Women Marcia Calixto. As for the proposed methodology, we opted for the qualitative research of non-probabilistic approach, under the historical-structural perspective, whose central theoretical categories are: totality, contradiction and historicity. Semi-structured interviews were undertaken with 6 (six) women who attend the Women´s Reference Center Marcia Calixto, and they were recorded and transcribed. The data were submitted to thematic analysis of Bardin (1977). The aim of this proposal is to contribute with subsidies for understanding the phenomenon and qualify the network of services in the city of Porto Alegre / RS. The results suggest that women use different coping strategies to cope with domestic violence, such as to submit to the will of the partner to avoid further violence and even hide firearms. It was observed that women remain for years in situations of violence before seeking support in the safety net. Among the factors that prevent seeking help in their critical route are: fear, shame, guilt, social isolation, lack of family support and emotional factors such as depression. Among the factors that mobilize these women for seeking help, we can find the support of the children, increased violence, women´s saturation of violence and the quest to defend the children from the abuser. Health services are the first places sought by women. Womens´ Police Station comes second. In this path, women suffer various violations of their rights, from not receiving help or getting an inappropriate service or advice, and delays in legal proceedings, among others. It is highlighted the need for intersectoral public policies that take into account the specific needs of women, especially the specialized service network, essential to the disruption of violence. It concludes that women's strategies to access their rights are permeated with contradictions and ambivalences. Decision-making processes to break away from violent relationships permeate the denaturalization of violence, redefinition of socially constructed gender roles, factors that also contribute to the subordination of women.
