Resumo: This article aims to elucidate what was a major production unit of port operations in Rio de Janeiro during the nineteenth century, the “trapiche” [warehouse]. Present until the first decades of the twentieth century, the “trapiches” were blended with the landscape of the port area, one of the oldest in the city.
