Resumo: The article addresses concepts related to users studies and informational behavior in archives. It argues that although the collection of large volumes of data, or big data, enhances the analysis of the uses of information, it also produces risks in relation to privacy. It addresses the general data protection law of Brazil and the ethical-legal issues in the development of studies of archives’ users.
