Resumo: This paper investigates the complex set of practices that became the privileged way of transmission, circulation and connection among people, ideas, and orders of thought; and reflects upon the writing systems and knowledge circulation that emerged in order to bring about the transmission of values, customs, and knowledge in the Hispanic monarchy, in the 16th and 17th centuries. The object of this research is the constitution of a manuscripts and printed collection in the Court’s heart and the collector himself, the Portuguese Bishop Jerônimo Mascarenhas (1611-1656), chronicler and historian. El objeto de investigación es la constitución de una colección de manuscritos y estampas en el seno de la corte y su coleccionista, el obispo portugués Jerônimo Mascarenhas (1611-1666). Palabras clave: cultura escrita; circulación de noticias; impresos y manuscritos; historia cultural.Este artigo investiga o complexo conjunto de práticas que se tornaram o modo privilegiado de transmissão, circulação e conexão entre pessoas, ideias e ordens de pensamento; e reflete acerca das formas de escrita e circulação de saberes que surgiram para efetivar a transmissão de valores, costumes e conhecimento na monarquia hispânica, nos séculos XVI e XVII.
