Resumo: Specifically addressing the topic of food production, the paper deals with the captaincy of Rio de Janeiro in the 17th century, not in isolation, but in a comparative perspective, seeking to identify the common aspects that the modern Atlantic economy defined between the supplying zones of this and three other important port cities of the time.
