Resumo: | This article presents results of historical research aimed at reconstructing and critically analyzing the educational process in Goiás in the 1930s and 40s. It explicitates the nature of the relationships incurred and strengthened between the State, education and the society of that time. This policy, understood as a social process of deliberate intervention in social life trends with the aim of modifying them in accordance with a certain type of interpretation of reality, received particular emphasis over two distinct yet indissociable periods: 1930-1937 and 1937-1945. In order to analyze both of these, the “new” meaning attributed to education in official sources and in State political practice was reclaimed and through this government measures for the education sector were explained. |

Este trabalho expõe os resultados de pesquisas históricas que visaram reconstituir e analisar, criticamente, a política de interiorização da educação do governo de Goiás nas décadas de 1930 e 1940, buscando explicitar a natureza das relações que se fortaleciam entre o Estado, a educação e a sociedade desse tempo. Essa política, entendida como processo social de intervenção deliberada nas tendências da vida social, visando modificá-las conforme um determinado tipo de interpretação da realidade, foi focalizada em dois períodos distintos e indissociáveis: 1930-1937 e 1937- 1945. Para analisá-los, recuperou-se o “novo” sentido atribuído à educação contido nas fontes oficiais e na prática política do Estado, passando a partir daí a expor as medidas do governo para o setor educacional.
