Music Education Experiences Based on Problem Solving: A Scoping Study Inside the Classroom

Resumo: With the overall purpose to develop music education in the Basic Education Curriculum, the current study presents as specific purpose the development of ideas and possibilities for a practical implementation, supported by problem solving processes and knowledge building. Having this in mind, we intended to try strategies and performing methods in practical activities within the classroom, as well as evaluate the corresponding students’ adherence, namely the perceptions regarding their music learning development and the teacher’s performance. The current scoping study relied on the participation of 4 eighth grade classes, which participated in the activity described in this study and answered a final questionnaire. From there, we proceeded to the evaluation of the student’s adherence regarding the activity done.The results pointed toward a valorization of the learning with peers (in group work) and of the regulatory nature of the feedback provided by the teacher to the students.

Pretendeu-se assim experienciar estratégias e formas de atuação em atividades práticas em sala de aula, bem como avaliar a respetiva adesão dos alunos, nomeadamente as percepções sobre o desenvolvimento da sua aprendizagem musical e a atuação da professora. O presente estudo exploratório contou com a participação de 4 turmas do 8.º ano de escolaridade, que estiveram presentes na atividade aqui exposta e responderam a um questionário final.
