Resumo: When the Internet went to the newsrooms, journalism started to face a big challenge. Although that started in Portugal in 1995, we do not know that much about what happened in regional press newsrooms. When? and How? are some questions that we don't know how to answer yet. The aim of this study is to do so. The first moments of the transition were found in 1996 and since then has been an underutilization of the potential of the Internet by proximity journalism.
