Resumo: | This dissertation seeks to explore the domestic spaces of English architects, Alison and Peter Smithson, in the perspective in which they are designed with a view to creating and providing a well-tempered and pleasant atmosphere for the inhabitant. An inhabitant who has been at the center of the Smithson's research since their interventions at CIAM and as integral elements of TEAM 10, in which they explained the need for an architecture with a focus on identity and individual being as an integral part of a community. The sense of identity remains in their projects and, mainly, in their domestic spaces, since, being this the most elementary space and in relation to the human being, it assumes its presence as the affirmation of the architectural space built, or just designed. The spaces designed by the couple acquire different premises, always with the intention of challenging the conventions of society and architecture, proposing new ways of living, as well as designing and organizing the house. The architecture and environments designed by the Smithson call for themes from the English tradition, the importance of the materials and the place, due to the character it holds, whether in relations with the territory, with nature or with the climate. Therefore, based on three lines of observation - place, house, window - the investigation will cover several projects of domestic spaces designed by the Smithson, analyzing the different forms of interior organization and the relationship with the exterior. The exploration premise meets the physical side of the program, as well as the spatial experience that is realized by the inhabitant who, through perception and consequent appropriation, seeks to recognize a well-tempered atmosphere, a comfortable environment that meets the conditions for his delight. |
