O autor considera que o conhecimento da energia a vapor nos campos é essencial para compreender o mundo que perdemos antes da industrialização, mas também o que ganhámos com as transformações sociais e culturais que daí nasceram. Study on the application of steam energy in agriculture, taking into account the results obtained until 2016 of the Projecto da Era do Vapor em Portugal – Project of the Steam Era in Portugal. This project was developed within the scope of the Institute of Contemporary History of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and deals with devices, machines and tools that strengthened the power of human beings from 1855.
