In this context, it is crucial to measure the connections between countries in order to identify where the financial centers are located, to characterize the foreign investments, and define the set of world countries that have stronger linkages, among others. In this context, foreign direct and portfolio investments play a crucial role in measuring international investments and understanding these dynamics. Such an interconnected web of foreign investment relationships is difficult to measure due to their complexity, but as well as the lack of unified data sources. This thesis aims to use network analysis to map the portfolio and foreign direct investment global relationships in order to identify patterns, preferential paths for investment, establish trends and describe the relations between countries over time.
