Resumo: This article aims to transmit and reflect with nurses about health care in the maintenance and viability of flaps on Head and Neck and Otorhinolaryngology Surgery. At the Head, Neck and Otorhinolaryngology Surgery Unit, surgeries like total laryngectomy, parotidectomy, neck dissections or fistula closure are often followed by bigger or minor reconstructions with flaps. Nursing care is critical to the success of flap surgery, as well as the quality of life of the patient.

Nursing care is critical to the success of flap surgery, as well as the quality of life of the patient.Com este artigo pretende-se proporcionar um momento de reflexão dos profissionais de enfermagem sobre os cuidados para a manutenção e viabilidade de um retalho em cirurgia na área de Cirurgia de Cabeça e Pescoço e Otorrinolaringologia.No Serviço de Cirurgia de Cabeça e Pescoço e Otorrinolaringologia (SCCP/ORL) do Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa de Francisco Gentil, cirurgias como laringectomias totais, parotidectomias, celulectomias ou encerramento de fístulas, são acompanhadas frequentemente por plastias de maior ou menor dimensão com retalho.
