Resumo: | This project work aims to follow the process of realizing a short animation film that is made by a single author and produced in a limited amount of time. Thus, the phases necessary to produce the short animation film will be described, starting from the conception of the idea for the story, to the technical development and to the post-production. Since the work is of singular authorship, the difficulties that manifested during its production are also mentioned as well as how its production differs from those produced by the big animation studios. The present work is subdivided in the theoretical part and practical part. Within the theoretical part different themes are explored and these include the state of the art, story and script, pre-production, characters, graphic style, animation and finally post-production. The theme of the state of the art contextualizes the independent animation work that has been produced both nationally and internationally, as well as the challenges and difficulties one faces in this type of productions. This is followed by exposing the author’s methodology for the creation of the short animation film produced for the practical part of this project work, starting by the theme of story and script. This includes the phase of brainstorm, development of the script, the synopsis and the use of mood-boards. In the pre-production the creation of the storyboard and animatic are presented before advancing to the theme of characters which is constituted by the process of the visual creation of the characters as well as their motivations and adequation to the story being told. The graphic style theme develops on the previous theme, referring the choice of colours and stylistic decisions made towards not only the characters but also backgrounds. The animation theme tackles the technical development of the short animation film produced for the practical part, dividing it according to the different scenes that were necessary for its production in order to present the particular characteristics of each of them |
