Resumo: The main objective of this dissertation is to build a hybrid AC/DC microgrid model in the Software Simulink and to study the way it works and performs in different scenarios. This thesis is divided into six chapters: the first one, the Introduction, explains the main objectives, the contributions, the motivation and how the thesis is organized; the second chapter, the State of Art, reports the basic concepts of electricity in rural areas, how the microgrids and hybrid microgrids work, its architecture, models, electrical implementations, applications and the importance of these grids in places that are located far away from the big cities and the main grids; in chapters 3 and 4, it is stated a more succinct explanation about the simulation and tests that will be performed; the third one focuses more on the parametrization of the models, the different scenarios to test and in the structure and implementation of the AC and DC microgrids that are being studied; the fourth chapter explains how models are designed, how they work and how their control functions operate; in chapter 5, the results of the simulation for each scenario are analysed and studied; in the last chapter, all the main conclusions taken from this thesis are defined.
