Resumo: This paper intend to discuss about teaching Portuguese language in East Timor in the teachers training taking as basis the experiences lived in the classes with teachers-students of Bacharelato em Ciências da Natureza (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology). In the opportunity we made efforts to become those teachers proficient in reading and writing texts in the Portuguese language, when we use some strategies of teaching aimed at inserting those teachers-students in several discursive practices in order to make them to develop communicative skills that could contribute to improve their practices in teaching using Portuguese as language of instruction in their classes.
