Contribution of storytelling in promoting the social development of a child with profound intellectual multiple disabilities

Resumo: Children with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities (PIMD) require educational responses that create opportunities to participate in activities with their peers, broaden social relationships and increase knowledge about the world around them. This qualitative study sought to understand how the telling of different types of stories (author stories, social stories, multi-sensory stories), in different contexts, influences the involvement and participation of a child with PIMD in the storytelling activity, as well as their social development. A child with PIMD and his/her kindergarten peers participated in the study. Data collection was carried out through observation, social network analysis and documentary research. The results show that the child with PIMD participated in a very positive way in the storytelling activity, showing different behaviors towards the different types of stories told. The activity brought important gains for all children.

The activity brought important gains for all children.Los niños con discapacidades múltiples necesitan respuestas educativas que creen oportunidades para participar en actividades con sus compañeros, amplíen las relaciones sociales y aumenten el conocimiento sobre el mundo que los rodea. Este estudio cualitativo buscó comprender cómo el relato de diferentes tipos de historias (autor, social, multisensorial) en diferentes contextos influye en la implicación y participación de un niño con discapacidad múltiple en la actividad de contar historias, así como en su desarrollo. Social. Un niño con discapacidades múltiples y sus compañeros de kindergarten participaron en el estudio. La recolección de datos se realizó mediante observación, análisis de redes sociales e investigación documental. Los resultados muestran que los niños con discapacidad múltiple participaron de manera muy positiva en la actividad de contar historias, mostrando diferentes comportamientos hacia los diferentes tipos de historias contadas. La actividad trajo importantes beneficios para todos los niños.Les enfants polyhandicapé ont besoin de réponses éducatives qui créent des opportunités de participer à des activités avec leurs pairs, d'élargir leurs relations sociales et d'accroître les connaissances sur le monde qui les entoure. Cette étude qualitative a cherché à comprendre comment la narration de différents types d'histoires (histoires d'auteurs, histoires sociales et histoires multisensorielles), dans différents contextes, influence la participation d'un enfant polyhandicapé dans l'activité de narration, ainsi que son développement social. Un enfant polyhandicapé et ses camarades de l'école maternelle ont participé à l'étude. La collecte des données s'est faite par l'observation, l'analyse des réseaux sociaux et la recherche documentaire. Les résultats montrent que l'enfant polyhandicapé ont participé de manière très positive à l'activité de narration, montrant des comportements différents envers les différents types d'histoires racontées. L'activité an apporté des gains importants pour tous les enfants.Crianças com multideficiência necessitam de respostas educativas que criem oportunidades para participarem em atividades com os seus pares, alargarem as relações sociais e aumentarem os conhecimentos acerca do mundo que as rodeia. O presente estudo qualitativo procurou perceber de que modo o conto de diferentes tipos de histórias (autor, sociais, multissensoriais) em diversos contextos, influencia o envolvimento e a participação de uma criança com multideficiência na atividade de contação de histórias, bem como o seu desenvolvimento social. Participaram no estudo uma criança com multideficiência e os seus pares do jardim de infância que frequentava. A recolha de dados realizou-se através da observação, da análise de redes sociais e da pesquisa documental. Os resultados mostram que a criança com multideficiência participou de uma forma muito positiva na atividade de contação de histórias, apresentando comportamentos distintos perante os diferentes tipos de histórias contadas.
