É um romance de espaço, no contexto do Algarve dos anos setenta do século passado, em acelerada transformação duma sociedade rural arcaica num espaço cosmopolita de turismo de lazer. Depois de ter abordado outros temas e contextos, voltará reiteradamente a este espaço no conto A Instrumentalina e em dois romances marcantes, O Vale da Paixão e O Vento Assobiando nas Gruas. No presente trabalho analisamos o que há de comum nestas obras, fazendo uma comparação do contexto, das histórias narradas, do efeito do real, das personagens e da linguagem do discurso. Abordamos ainda a questão da especificidade da escrita no feminino e suscitamos a possibilidade de existência de alguns elementos autobiográficos da autora. Pomos em evidência o papel das personagens femininas. Concluímos com a ideia de que a construção das obras e as múltiplas referências intertextuais permitem entendê-las como um macrotexto.The Portuguese author Lídia Jorge (born 1946) initiated her literary career with the novel O Dia dos Prodígios, first published in 1980. It is a regional novel in the context of the Portuguese south province of the Algarve in the 1970s, evolving from a rural archaic society into a cosmopolitan region of tourism and leisure resorts. Having thereafter treated a variety of different other subjects, the author returned to the algarvian context with a short story, A Instrumentalina, and two more major novels, O Vale da Paixão and O Vento Assobiando nas Gruas. Our purpose is to pinpoint the common elements in these texts, and to undertake a wide ranging comparative analysis of the stories, their context, their characters, their discourse and the ways in which they interconnect with reality. We address the question of the specificity of writing by female authors, and we raise the possibility of there being autobiographical elements within the narratives. We look with particular attention at the major role played by female caracters.
