Resumo: The Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are a topic of enormous research activity, mainly due to advances in microchip technology. The WSN are emerging in research areas like psychology, fire prevention, security and military areas. This type of networking allows you to track, monitor, study, understand and act on a particular phenomenon or event. According to several organizations, Portugal is elected a destination of choice for tourism. According to the Globe Spots Portugal was the best destination of the world in 2013 and according to the Association of British Travel (ABTA) Portugal is in the best destinations worldwide for 2014. The FreedomGrow is owner of a Framework named PlugSense, whose function is to expedite the creation of process-based WSN applications. This process is usually very laborious because the management and integration of hardware as well as the integration of different communication protocols are quite complex. The PlugSense is a software application that simplifies the implementation and management of the WSN allowing the programmer to focus only on application requirements and not to overcome the difficulties in their development. Applications developed on the application created by the Framework, are vertical applications that can be applied in various fields like agriculture, healthcare, hospitality and more. The FreedomGrow, taking into account these factors, decided to create a modular application of telemonitoring for the hospitality sector based in Wireless Sensor Networks. The challenge is to use the PlugSense for the development of an aggregating application of monitoring systems, critical for hotel service, high value added and satisfying the most stringent quality standards in order to obtain all the information collected by the various systems of monitoring in a single platform accessible by any device fixed or mobile. The application should be modular and should include video surveillance, energy efficiency, location of people and equipment, fire and flood detection, access control, food safety and environmental control technologies. Considering that all sensors used for monitoring of the hotel are wireless sensors and sensors for video surveillance systems this require a large bandwidth becomes extremely important to have a robust network connection and reliable. To solve the problems of bandwidth and storage space was implemented a surveillance system that performs just recording when the event occurs. In this case the system starts recording when a sensory alert occurs. The application receives the alert and sends a command to the sensor video surveillance with the position of warning, this one that recieves the command rotate to the local of the warning and starts recording. With this new system the storage space and bandwidth are reduced and the quality of the stored information is increased. At the end of the deployment test solution were done. These showed that the changes were very beneficial because a reduction of approximately 80% in the consumption of bandwidth and about 87% of the storage space was observed.
