Resumo: The aim of this review is to describe how the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic has affected dentistry and to discuss the suspension of dental work implemented by governments around the globe. The surveys were separately conducted by the official dental association in each country. The bibliography search was performed using the electronic data base PubMed around keywords “Dentistry”, “COVID-19”, “SARS-CoV-2”, “Economy”, “Suspension” and “Dental care”. Further data was extracted from the World Health Organization and official healthcare associations from different countries. There has been a major impact economically and mentally on dentists. Patients were also hesitant to visit the dental clinics. The suspension of routine dental care has more disadvantages as opposed to advantages. The literature proposes to safely deliver dental care and come to a “new normal” with new adaptations.

The literature proposes to safely deliver dental care and come to a “new normal” with new adaptations.O objetivo desta revisão é descrever como a pandemia do Coronavirus Disease 2019 afetou a medicina dentária e discutir a suspensão de trabalho implementada pelos governos em todo o mundo.
