Resumo: | Internal working models of attachment (IWMA), as theorized by John Bowlby, are developed through interaction with the attachment figure and serve as information-processing filters for organizing and interpret information related to emotional social events. Therefore, IWMA influence memory functioning. This study aimed to examine how attachment patterns interfere with the specificity of autobiographical memories. The study involved 34 participants. Initially, their attachment pattern was assessed using the Adult Attachment Projective System, developed by George and West (2012). Subsequently, we tested autobiographical memory using an adapted version of the Autobiographical Memory Test of Williams and Broadbent (1986). The cue-words used in this study to activate episodic memories had either negative, or positive emotional valences. Results revealed an increased specificity of responses for individuals classified as secure. Regarding negative words, the preoccupied group showed greater specificity in their responses. In contrast, unresolved and dismissing participants had the highest number of nonspecific responses, regardless of the valence of the stimulus words. |
