Resumo: | This dissertation stems from the observation of two main absences: the absence of ethics towards users of space; and the absence of a sense of economy of means and materials present in the built world today. Therefore, this work looks for a responsible exploratory solution that addresses those shortcomings. In order to achieve that goal it presents an alternative hybrid (analog and digital) design process, of renovation of Porto's historical roofs of previous centuries. Due to their age there are many pathologies that eventually lead to degradation in the lower floors. We aim to prevent this and thus contribute to the conceptualization of architecture as tabula non rasa, changeable, constantly adding layers, an endless, infinite collective project. For the construction of the digital process I have chosen four case studies, situated both in the historic centre of Porto and in the more peripheral areas of this historic hub, targeting for a heterogeneity of nearby contexts. The parametric digital model and graphic interface (included in the attachments of the digital version) that was developed allows the user to be self-sufficient in the exploration of spatial configurations, overcoming the usual limitations of oral communication which can be extended with interactivity, acting on a cyclical pair of action and visual feedback. With this setup we want the user to perceive, think and act on the systemic nature of an architectural project. |
