Resumo: | This article presents a review of research aimed to investigate the history of healthy children separated from parents with leprosy patients who were isolated compulsorily by determination of the Brazilian state. Through qualitative research methodology based on the oral history and documentary research through secondary sources, we rescued a story of Public Health in Brazil and its various forms of surveillance, disease control and leprosy patient. We conclude that the impact of this measure was the segregation and expulsion of parents and children, there was a deepening of the social stigma, the breaking of the entail family and the networks of sociability, beyond the restriction of opportunities to (re)socialization, creating a way to discrimination that reflects into the lives of individuals affected with the disease and their families. |
