Resumo: This research focuses, on spatial and functional terms, an analysis of the Architecture Faculty of the Oporto University (FAUP) and its surrounding area using the theoretical and analytical principles known as space syntax. The present research's general objective aims to produce a critical thought about space syntax's contribute to architecture, not only as a spatial analysis method but also as a support to the conceptual and prediction phases in architectural design. In this sense, the research is a pretext to the exploration and assimilation of space syntax's theoretical and analytical principles, to the study of the relationships between FAUP's spatial configuration and architectural intentions and finally, to the exploration of the relationships between spatial configuration and the current space use patterns of FAUP's population.
