Telesurveilling system based on the ISDN

Resumo: This article is a proposal of a telesurveillingsystem based on the ISDN - Integrated Services DigitalNetwork. The article is structured in several sections covering thefollowing subjects: system architecture and ISDN services, functional description, structured analysis and project, andperformance evaluation of implemented system. The basic components of the system are a centraltelesurveilling station and one or several remote stations, thatcommunicate through the ISDN. The purpose of the system isto allow the transfer of images (still or moving pictures) fromthe remote station whenever it is requested by the operator ofthe central station or when an abnormal situation occurs in aremote station; in this late case this is related with theactivation of one of the sensing devices installed in the remotestation. The performance evaluation of the system leads tothe conclusion that its behaviour is appropriate to itspurpose, and also that ISDN provides a good support, for thistype of application.

O artigo encontra-se organizado em várias secções comtemplando cada uma dela os seguintes aspectos: arquitectura do sistema e serviços RDIS, descrição funcional, análise e projecto estruturado, análise de desempenho do sistema proposto, e ainda conclusões sobre cada uma das secções anteriores. Este sistema é composto por uma estação central (EC) de televigilância e por uma ou várias estações remotas (ERs) que comunicam através da RDIS. O sistema permite a transferência de imagens fixas ou móveis das ERs para a EC, sendo a iniciativa do estabelecimento de cada comunicação da responsabilidade do operador da EC, ou da ER; neste último caso a comunicação é estabelecida sempre que haja uma situação anómala correspondente à activação de um dos sensores da ER.
