Resumo: | The article intends to radiograph two opposite phenomena that mark the understanding of the margins of contemporary Brazilian Literature. First, we will reflect on the unusual importance that, gradually, the conquest of a ‘voice’ in Brazil for non-hegemonic representations and discourses, such as peripheral urban literature or migrant literature, gradually acquired. Secondly and in opposition to this admirable openness, which gave a remarkable specificity to Brazilian literature, we will examine the permanence of a certain inflexibility regarding the entry into the Brazilian canon of certain hybrid and heterodox discourses from a literary and artistic point of view (such as the excellent proposals by Flávio de Carvalho, Hélio Oiticica, or Nuno Ramos), an incomprehensible phenomenon, considering the aforementioned integration and canonization of other heterodoxies and literary ‘margins’ in recent decades and, above all, the centrality of the ‘antitradition tradition’ in the history of Brazilian Literature. |
