Resumo: The current dissertation promotes an investigation and critical approach to the study of the object "house", while being confronted with its inhabitant. All the knowledge that was acquired throughout the five years of the Master in Architecture has encouraged one personal interest: the dynamics associated to the process of spatial appropriation and contamination by Man. This subject is investigated through a proposed method; apart from the thorough study of the theme, we are also interested in the possibility of incorporating this method in our daily basis work. The narrative is based on a line of thought that is established through a pretext, a context, an investigation and, finally, an intersection. The first one limits the area of study, setting the beginning of the investigation. Then, the context explores the variety of concepts implied on the process of decoding architectural experience (appropriation, intimacy, individualization, privacy, dependence, exibility), while building a frame of images and observations that allow us to look into the house as a storage of different spaces, which differ from dweller to dweller. Here, we introduce some essential authors and references for the subject. The investigation sets the "room" as the starting point for the analysis, where eight different rooms previously occupied by the author are presented, only through its personal experience, while exploring its way of inhabiting. This dissection starts by defining some essential parameters that allow us understand the relationship between Man and space: use (proposed vs. experimented), spatial limits, variations and changes in appropriation, period of stay, and its relation with the public and private spheres. At last, the content of the previous chapters shall overlap and intersect the various narratives (the author's occupations vs. other authors's occupations), crossing them with the themes and concepts discussed throughout the dissertation, in order to identify common traits that contribute to the phenomenon of architectural appropriation.
