Resumo: | This investigation focuses on the ontological design of the megastructure – Bratton’s (2016) concept of The Stack – and how it’s role in determining computational colonialism, a neocolonial order from the Global North. Faced with the threat of cultural plurality by the project of planetary computation, the potential of ontological design rescues the agency of design in the continuous fabrication of the world. Simultaneously, through its decolonial approach, ontological design also allows for the recovery of distinct visions and ontologies to foster new solutions to the same problems of capture, manipulation, marginalization, exploitation and acculturative orientation resulting from computational colonialism. Aiming to explore the potential of reinterpretation of Oswald de Andrade's Cannibalist Manifesto (1958) through the lens of ontological design, its central figures – the primitive, the savage and the technized barbarian – provide, through the central antagonism of being both Brazilian and modern, the concept of technoprimitivism. This concept, in turn, is reinterpreted as a contemporary anthropophagic expression capable of fostering new visions (ontologies and epistemologies) that encourage plurality and the decolonization of planetary computing. The potential of totemization is highlighted from the reinterpretation of the Manifesto, an anthropophagic process internalized by this investigation by addressing the complexes inherent to its culture and the upkeep of the colonial rationale which typically holds the Global South out of the global computation debate. This concept also allows us to rethink a cultural revitalization process of a post-crisis country, in the search for affirmation, recovery and preservation of Brazilian culture in the face of the computational hegemony of the megastructure |
