In this paper of bibliographic review, the authors describe some of the main variables that influence the development of health attitudes in children and youth. There are two approaches to remark. One follows Piaget's cognitive development theory: developmental stages and their cognitive characteristics determine different stages of attitudes related to health. The other approach includes those who use data from field research. The influence of family factors and influences from peers, school and media interact and contribute to learning and socialization of different kinds of health attitudes and behaviours. Both approaches have to be taken in account in order to define educative strategies of health promotion. School system and mass-media have a very important role, and have to be included in the process of health education and their contribution has to be carefully defined.
