Antimicrobial activity was assessed by microdilution method, and the anti-amyloidogenic activity was assessed by fibrilisation/defibrilisation of cystatin B, monitored with ThT and fluorescence spectroscopy. Moreover, plant extracts, their pure components and synthetic glycosides were added to 15N cystatin B and HSQC spectra showed binding to the protein in loop residues and β strands. The ability of synthetic compounds, extracts and pure components to prevent conversion of PrPC to PrPSc was measured by dot blot analysis.
