A sua prevalência tem vindo a aumentar globalmente, afetando todas as regiões e todas as classes socioeconómicas. Os fatores de risco para o desenvolvimento das doenças crónicas podem ser classificados como modificáveis ou não modificáveis. Entre os fatores modificáveis, destacam-se as dietas inadequadas e a inatividade física (WHO, 2018; SCHMIDT et al., 2011). Já entre os fatores não modificáveis, destacam-se a idade, a hereditariedade, o sexo e a raça.Objetivo: Compreender o impacto dos determinantes de saúde (alimentação, atividade física, região, sexo, grupo etário, estado civil, nível de escolaridade e condição perante o trabalho), nas pessoas com doenças crónicas (hipertensão arterial, dislipidemia, diabetes, doença coronária ou angina de peito e AVC) em Portugal.Metodologia: Com o objetivo de avaliar a relação e impacto dos determinantes de saúde nas pessoas com doença crónica, foi realizado um estudo epidemiológico transversal com base nos dados do Inquérito Nacional de Saúde (INS) 2019.Os dados correspondentes às variáveis em estudo foram sujeitos a análise estatística univariada, análise estatística bivariada e análise estatística multivariada. Foi utilizado o software de análise estatística IBM SPSS Statistics 28.Resultados: Da estatística descritiva verifica-se, que a ocorrência de doença crónica é mais frequente nas pessoas com alimentação inadequada, com tipo de atividade física insuficiente, nas mulheres, nos grupos etário dos 65-74 anos, na região Centro de Portugal, nos casados, e nas pessoas com ensino básico 1º e 2º ciclo. Do teste de associação de qui-quadrado, verificou-se que existe uma associação estatisticamente significativa entre doenças crónicas e todos os determinantes de saúde com exceção de tipo de alimentação.Da análise de regressão logística simples, verificou-se que todas as covariáveis, com exceção da covariável tipo de alimentação, quando consideradas isoladamente, têm influência estatisticamente significativa para o desenvolvimento de doenças crónicas. A covariável tipo de alimentação não é estatisticamente significativa para o desenvolvimento de doenças crónicas. Da regressão logística múltipla verificou-se que, as mulheres, com idade superior ou igual a 35 anos, casadas ou viúvas, reformadas, com reforma antecipada ou cessou a atividade, incapacitada permanente para o trabalho, são as que apresentam risco acrescido estatisticamente significativo para ter doenças crónicas. Foi utilizado nível de significância de 5% para análise dos resultados apresentados (teste de associação de qui-quadrado e modelo de regressão logística).Conclusão: Os resultados demonstram a relevância dos determinantes de saúde na doença crónica e tem especial importância continuar a atuar na prevenção e no controlo das doenças crónicas, através de medidas de promoção da saúde, promoção de um estilo de vida saudável, diminuindo os fatores de risco. Its prevalence has been increasing globally, affecting all regions and all socioeconomic classes. Risk factors for the development of chronic diseases can be classified as modifiable or non-modifiable. Among the modifiable factors, inadequate diets and physical inactivity stand out (WHO, 2018; SCHMIDT et al., 2011). Among the non-modifiable factors, age, heredity, gender and race stand out.Objective: To understand the impact of health determinants (diet, physical activity, region, gender, age group, marital status, level of education and work status) on people with chronic diseases (hypertension, dyslipidemias, diabetes, coronary heart disease or angina pectoris and stroke) in Portugal.Methodology: In order to assess the relationship and impact of health determinants on people with chronic illness, a cross-sectional epidemiological study was carried out based on INS 2019 data. Data corresponding to the variables under study were subjected to univariate statistical analysis, bivariate statistical analysis and multivariate statistical analysis. The statistical analysis software IBM SPSS Statistics 28 was used. Results: From the descriptive statistics, it appears that the occurrence of chronic disease is more frequent in people with inadequate diet, with insufficient physical activity, in women, in the age groups of 65-74 years, in the central region of Portugal, in the married, and in people with 1st and 2nd cycle basic education. From the chi-square association test, it was found that there is a statistically significant association between chronic diseases and all health determinants with the exception of type of diet.From the simple logistic regression analysis, it was found that all covariates, with the exception of the type of diet covariate, when considered separately, have a statistically significant influence on the development of chronic diseases. The covariate type of diet is not statistically significant for the development of chronic diseases. From the multiple logistic regression, it was found that women, aged 35 years or older, married or widowed, retired, with early retirement or ceased their activity, permanently incapacitated for work, are those with a statistically significant increased risk for having chronic diseases.
